How does the luggage service work?

You simply drop off your suitcase at a drop-off station or at a hotel. There, you specify where your luggage should be sent and by when. For longer distances, about 1 day should be calculated for pick-up and delivery.

At the airport, there are also dedicated counters where you can drop off or pick up your luggage.

You can also book the service online (e.g., through Yamato Transport) yourself, but it’s usually faster and more reliable to do it locally.

  • It’s best to also ask about insurance. Generally, everything should go smoothly since these services are very reliable, but you never know.
  • Try booking the luggage service at a cobini (e.g., 7 Eleven). It’s usually cheaper there.

For longer distances between cities, it is advisable to transport the luggage yourself. The price for the luggage service would be approximately 3,000 – 5,000 yen in this case.
